Customer Care Worker

Place of Work: 36, High Street, Colliers Wood, London, SW19 2AB
Salary: £5.93 per hour
Hours: 25 hours per week (9.00am - 2.30pm)
Accountability: Community and Operations Manager

Purpose of the Post

This position has been created in response to the changing needs of the Organisation. The post holder will have a number of roles: providing reception and customer support in our Head Office. We are looking for someone who can use their initiative-someone who is fully engaged with the job. Most important of all is that the post holder is willing to take on various tasks, is dependable and reliable.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To make and receive telephone calls on behalf of the organisation, record messages accurately and
  • professionally
  • To act as a first point of contact for all the users and visitors to the organisation
  • To send out information packs about the services of SLTWG to interested users
  • To undertake photocopying when required
  • To undertake duties relating to incoming and outgoing post
  • To keep and maintain order in the reception area and updating the notice boards
  • To be in charge to receive faxes and sign in all deliveries
  • To undertake duties relating to opening and closing of the office.
  • To publicise the different support services of SLTWG and signpost the customers to the relevant support
  • service.
  • To undertake other duties generally commensurate with the post as designated by the Manager

Person specification:

  • At least one year experience of working in Customer Care preferably in charity sector
  • A good telephone manner and customer care skills are essential.
  • Able to work on own initiative and produce accurate, timely work with minimal supervision
  • Computer literate, particularly familiar with basic Microsoft Office Software
  • Supportive of the organisation’s aims and values
  • Excellent Communication skills (both in English and Tamil)
  • Good Time Management skills
  • Ability to work as a team

  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate across multiple tasks.

General Duties:

  • To work collaboratively as part of SLTWG’s staff team towards the aims and objectives of the organisation as a
  • whole and assist with general office duties in the absence of other members of staff
  • To ensure that records are maintained as part of SLTWG’s overall monitoring and evaluation procedures and
  • to produce written reports when required
  • To attend and participate in SLTWG meetings, supervision sessions, review days, cultural activities and
  • Management Committee meetings as and when required
  • To keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy and practice issues, including undertaking research and
  • attending conferences and training courses
  • To undertake other duties as required which are in line with the aims of the post/project.
